Active IQ Level 3 Award in Conversion of Advanced Fitness Instructor to Personal Trainer Status (QCF)

This qualification gives learners the knowledge and skills to work with individual and groups of clients in a personal training environment. Successful achievement of the qualification will allow the learner to upskill from advanced instructor to gain employment as a personal trainer within an organisational setting or alternatively on a self-employed basis.

Qualifications and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Points: 

The learner must achieve both compulsory units.

Compulsory Units:

  • Advanced Fitness Instructor Up-skilling (F/602/1783) - this unit is worth 5 credits
  • Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme (L/600/9054) - this unit is worth 6 credits

The total credit value for this upskill course is 11.

The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) is a system for recognising skills and qualifications. It does this by awarding credit for qualifications and units (small steps of learning). Each unit has a credit value (as detailed above). This value specifies the number of credits gained by learners who complete that unit. The flexibility of the system allows learners to gain qualifications at their own pace along routes that suit them best.

Course Information: 

This Active IQ Level 3 Award in Conversion of Advanced Fitness Instructor to Personal Trainer Status (QCF) course is great for people who have already qualified as a level 3 advanced gym instructor and wish to upskill to full level 3 personal trainer status.

During this course you will learn how to test your client's fitness levels and how to monitor their progress, in addition to learning how to give advice on healthy eating and diets.

Entry Requirements: 

This qualification has been designed to upskill individuals that currently hold the Level 3 Advanced Instructor qualification or advanced instructor status on REPs to full personal trainer.

Length and Format of Course: 

You can work at your own pace, in your own time and from where you like. You will then need to attend one assessment / training day.

Career Options: 

You can seek employment in any health club or fitness establishment as a personal trainer, designing programmes for clients, helping them set their fitness related goal and offer nutritional advice.
